SUMMARY:DreamCatchers for Kids: Build a Bear Program for the Holidays
DESCRIPTION:Through the Foundation’s DreamCatchers for Kids TM program (Wish Fund)\, the children created their own special teddy bear including the name\, the clothes they would wear and the accessories right from their hospital beds. The wish list was picked up by the volunteers and taken to the Build-A-Bear Workshop in the Southern Park Mall. All the bears were made and then delivered back to the children at the hospital by the nurses. This takes place at the Akron Childrens Hospital Mahoning Valley during the holiday season. If you would like to help\, email us at info@hopemv.org. \nThis event takes place sometime during the holiday season in December of each year. \nApply now to grant a child the wish of their lives.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrating All for the Kids Day \nChronic and terminal illnesses impact the lives of tens of thousands of children daily in the United States. These conditions affect not only the everyday life and activities of a child but present challenges for parents\, siblings\, families\, and friends. Children with chronic and terminal illnesses also require extensive therapies and medical care all of which can come at a great cost\, to families financially and emotionally. All for the Kids Day\, a national day of recognition\, provides hope and support for these kids and their families. \nIn an effort to raise awareness Anthony Spano\, Founder & Executive Director of The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley\, saw the need for assisting these families right in the Mahoning Valley. But he knew that the need for assistance reached well beyond the valley. So Anthony joined with a national network of organizations\, community leaders and legislators all sharing a mission to proclaim May 15 the National All for the Kids Day in March of 2016. In December 2016\, Gov. John Kasich signed Ohio HB 580 into law\, which included companion legislation offered by Senate Minority Leader Joe Schiavoni\, D-33\, establishing the National All for the Kids Day for May 15. Click here to see the state law.
