The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley and Anthony V. Spano Foundation announce the launch of a new website, AllForKidsDay.org, to help raise awareness for the families with children suffering from a chronic or terminal illness or those who have sustained an injury.  In an effort to raise awareness, Anthony Spano, Founder & Executive Director of The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley & the Spano Foundation, saw the need for assisting these families right in the Mahoning Valley.  They soon recognized that the need for assistance reached well beyond the valley, so they joined with a national network of organizations, community leaders and legislators all sharing a mission to proclaim May 15 All for the Kids Day, a national day of recognition, in March of 2016.

Chronic and terminal illnesses impact the lives of tens of thousands of children daily in the United States. These conditions affect not only the everyday life and activities of a child but present challenges for parents, siblings, families, and friends. Children with chronic and terminal illnesses also require extensive therapies and medical care all of which can come at a great cost, to families financially and emotionally. All for the Kids Day provides hope and support for these kids and their families. A mom shared this story, “The day my daughter was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney disease was a moment of sheer terror and confusion. Everything I knew and believed was tested. Getting to soccer practice on time suddenly seemed trivial. Testing, medical procedures, medications, hospitalization, learning medical lingo and putting on that brave face for my child puts you in a place you never thought you would be. The fear of outcomes and the everyday anxiety tied to uncertainty can be debilitating. With the help of organizations, like the Spano Foundation, and All for the Kids Day, I know that there is a whole community of individuals and organizations that understand that my daughter, and kids like her, thrive when they know they are not alone and there are opportunities for support.”
