Mr. John E. Crowder Jr. is currently the Middle School Principal and Transportation Director for the Newton Falls EVSD. Mr. Crowder graduated from Kent State University with both his BS in Education with a specialization in Secondary Mathematics, minor in Athletic Coaching, and his MA in Education Administration. He is an alumni of Newton Falls, graduating in 1978. While there, he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Amie Crowder. Together they have five uniquely talented children (Josh-Chef, Johnny-Cerebral Palsy, Kaylin-Educator, Kelsie-Educator, Jarred-Foreman) and 8 beautiful grandchildren. After high school he attended Brigham Young University where he played football with some amazing athletes like Jim McMahon and Marc Wilson.  After moving back to Ohio, he attended Kent State where he excelled in education and joined Phi Delta Kappa.  It was there that his passion for children and education came to life. He began his teaching career in 1985 and has spent the last forty years teaching, coaching, and supporting youth in Trumbull County and other northeast Ohio communities. Mr. Crowder has never sought the spotlight; however, throughout his prestigious career, he has been awarded many accolades and commendations for his work, as well as joined many professional organizations to help him excel in his roles. In 1988 while working for Cleveland Municipal Schools, he joined Ohio Council Teachers Mathematics and National Council Teachers Mathematics where he was asked to present at numerous local conferences and even at a national conference in New Orleans. In 1992 he pursued his role in administration where he has excelled ever since. When the opportunity arose to return to his hometown in 2003 as the high school Principal, he accepted the challenge with vigor! He joined the Ohio Association Secondary School Administrators and the National Association Secondary School Principals, as well as developed many programs to help Newton Falls students pursue careers after High School. He remained the high school principal until 2021 when he was promoted to Director of Business Operations and joined the Ohio Association School Business Officials. He began his current role in 2022 and was invited to join the Ohio Association Public Transportation.

Outside the classroom and school setting, Mr. Crowder has continued to live a life reflective of his morals, beliefs, and values.  Mr. Crowder has always put students and their successes first and foremost. For the past forty years, he has coached football, basketball, baseball, gymnastics, and track from the little leagues to collegiate level. In addition to working with children locally in Warren Township, Southington, Newton Falls, and Lordstown, he has worked with athletes at Westminster College, Flytz Gymnastics, Olympic Dreams all on a volunteer basis. He has donated his time and resources to support 4-H, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, church youth programs, by providing time and animals to help put on live nativities, community Christmas lighting events, and many other Children’s Services as well as school related events. Since 1988, he has been supporting local schools with the Crowder Family Scholarship to help college bound students, pursuing education at a higher level. He is a longtime supporter of 4-H, Farm Bureau, and the Children’s Rehab Center. Throughout his career, Mr. Crowder has opened his home to children in need, offering them food, clothing, and even shelter. He has supported many fundraisers for children in need from both accidents and health crises, and was often one of the first to show up to lend a hand when tragedy would strike someone in his school or community. Mr. Crowder is a respected member of his school, church, and community not because of who he is, but because of what he is, a caring and selfless leader who will do whatever it takes to support the diverse needs of his family, students, peers, subordinates and community, constantly setting them up for greatness.
