YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A friendly competition was held on the bocce court in Youngstown’s Smokey Hollow section on Monday.
The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley teamed up with the Carmstrong Foundation to host the CARMSTRONG Bocce for Hope tournament.
A total of 13 teams competed, including a team from First News/33 News.
Tony Spano, founder and executive director of the Hope Foundation, said nearly $3,000 was raised for the cause on Monday night.
“The Hope Foundation raises money for chronically and terminally ill kids, so this is a way that we can raise money and raise funds for those kids and improve their lives,” he said.
Besides playing bocce, celebrity bartenders were on hand to pour drinks. And, 27 First News morning anchor Dan Martin entertained the crowd with music.
This is the seventh year for the event. Money raised will be split between the Hope Foundation and the Carmstrong Foundation.
